3 Days in Seoul Itinerary: The Easy First-Timer Plan

Three days is enough to see the best of Seoul without rushing — if you group sights by neighborhood. Here’s the plan at a glance. Each day has its own short guide with tips and subway stops.

The plan at a glance

  • Day 1 – Old Seoul: Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, Ihwa Mural Village, the city wall, Insadong. → Day 1 guide
  • Day 2 – Markets & modern Seoul: Gwangjang Market, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Cheonggyecheon Stream, Myeongdong. → Day 2 guide
  • Day 3 – Lake, library & river: Seokchon Lake, Starfield Library, Ewha Womans University, the Han River. → Day 3 guide

Where to stay

Insadong / Jongno is the easiest base for this route: Day 1 is walkable from there and Day 2 is a few subway stops away. Myeongdong is a good second choice if you want shopping on your doorstep.

Before you go

  • Get a transit card on day one — see Seoul first-timer tips.
  • Gyeongbokgung is closed on Tuesdays, so don’t put Day 1 on a Tuesday.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. Day 1 has hills.

Have more time?

Add a day trip: Busan in 2 days for beaches and seafood, or Gyeongju in 1 day for ancient tombs and temples.
